Booking and the consultation
How do I book an appointment? Use the appointment form or call the coordinator on the number shown. The coordinator calls you back to arrange a slot; a request is not a confirmed booking until then.
Where does the consultation take place? At the main campus of Medanta Hospital, Lucknow (Sushant Golf City, Amar Shaheed Path). Details and directions are on the consultation page.
When is the OPD? Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. The coordinator confirms your slot when they call you.
Do you offer video consultations? Yes. Choose "Video consultation" on the appointment form or tell the coordinator when you call, and they will arrange it.
What should I bring? The biopsy/histopathology report with any receptor or molecular results, all scans as images with their reports, blood tests, discharge summaries, the names and dates of any treatment already given, and a list of current medicines. See what to expect.
Can I send my reports by WhatsApp or email first? Please bring them to the consultation instead. We do not ask for medical details through the website, and the coordinator will tell you if anything is needed in advance.
Second opinions
Can I come just for a second opinion? Yes. See the second opinion page for when it helps and what to bring. Tests usually do not need repeating if you bring the originals.
Will my current doctor be offended? A good oncologist expects it. The second opinion is a review of the diagnosis, stage and plan — most often it confirms the plan, sometimes it adds a test or an option.
Treatment questions
Does Dr Atreya perform surgery or radiation? No. He is a medical oncologist: his work is the medicine side of cancer care — chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted and hormonal therapy — and coordinating with surgical and radiation oncology colleagues. Each cancer page explains where medical oncology fits for that cancer.
Does he treat blood cancers? Yes. Dr Atreya is a medical and haemato-oncologist and treats leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma at Medanta Lucknow, including stem-cell (bone-marrow) transplantation where it is part of the plan. See the leukaemia and lymphoma pages.
How much does treatment cost? Costs depend on the diagnosis, the drugs and the schedule, and are discussed at consultation. This site does not publish prices.
Is treatment covered by health insurance? Health insurance is accepted. What is covered depends on your policy, so ask the coordinator when you book and bring your policy details.
