How I approach cancer care
Cancer care is not only about powerful medicines or advanced machines. It is about judgement: knowing what to do, when to act, and when restraint protects you more than intervention.
Three habits shape every plan I make. First, the diagnosis and stage are confirmed properly before anything starts — a biopsy report read carefully, the right scans, and the receptor or molecular tests that can change the whole direction. Second, the goal is agreed out loud: cure, long-term control, or comfort. Patients and families deserve to hear it plainly. Third, the least treatment that achieves that goal is chosen, and reviewed as we go — more is not always better, and side effects are part of the calculation, not an afterthought.
I work within a multidisciplinary team at Medanta Lucknow. Surgery and radiation are delivered by colleagues in those specialties; my part is the medicine — chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted and hormonal therapy — and coordinating the sequence so that each step is deliberate. Through the Cancer Explained Clearly channel I try to give the same explanations to people who cannot sit in my clinic.
